I have worked as a researcher/writer on health, environment, development and human rights issues for a range of clients, from nongovernmental organizations to commercial print media.Initially trained as a writer of educational materials, over time I expanded my repertoire to include feature journalism, reportage, essays and reviews. Writing on photography included:
  • Photography reviews for the Mail&Guardian and other newspapers (1980s).
  • David Goldblatt 55. (Introduction). Phaidon Press, 2000.
  • 'David Goldblatt's Johannnesburg' in Rhizomes of Memory. Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, 2000.

Recently the focus of my work has been on HIV and AIDS, and includes technical writing, and creative non-fiction.More...

Throughout the 1980s I worked consistently for civil society organizations such as educational NGOs, literacy projects and trade unions. Work included production of course materials, articles for educational publications, scripting comics, interactive booklets to accompany educational films and editing.
